The TMX 120 is essentially a Sensor3 boot—like a Pursuit or an
Experience version of the same updated 100 mm last—so what's it got
going on that grants it entry into the boot test's Alternative
category? Well, it's pink. Really, really pink. The color alone
attracted us—we wanted to ski it. Weird huh? Yeah it's a little
strange that it only takes wacky colors for a boot to be considered a
"jib," or "freeride," boot these days but you know, we're okay with
that in this particular case. Why? We're okay with that because the
lucky jibonkers who get the TMX 120 Magenta might accidentally turn
into expert all-mountain skiers because of it. Seriously, this boot
could make a skier out of a tail-slidin', shovel-slappin' jibronie
just by virtue of its dialed stance angles and snug where you need it
containment, not to mention its best of the rest edge power and
juicy-perfect flex feel. Or at least that's what our testers said
about this boot—calling it the best skiing boot in the entire class at
200-clams less than its closest competitor. No rear spoiler here sets
the stance a little more upright than Pursuit 110, which our off-trail
crud crushers liked, and the polyurethane (Pursuit 110 is polyether)shell make-up gives the boot a damp, tougher-than-expected feel at speed. The liner has some black man fur on it and has a full, plush feel. Testers unanimously loved this boot, and real skiers better get
a hold of these before the park rats buy 'em out!
